Duncan Mills
A new bridge was constructed in 2005 on Illinois State Route 24.
The bridge provides a contrast to the fall foliage and overlooks the Spoon
River.

Cattle often walk into the Spoon River along with banks at Duncan Mills.
At times the river
becomes shallow enough for cattle to easily stand in. Some who visit the Spoon
River in
Fulton County often canoe in it for recreation.

Thompson, a long time vendor at Duncan Mills, still provides help to her family who operate the Duncan Inn. Many vendors set up in Helm’s Park to sell their handmade items during the Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive.

Children such as these enjoy spending time with their families and friends while visiting various sites on the Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive. Pictured here in Duncan Mills these children take time to rest among a pumpkin and straw display.
